Choral Series Event: Sounds of the Season 2013

The Branch County Community Chorus & the choirs of Kellogg Community College presents “Gloria” by John Rutter, with additional works by Handel, Vivaldi, Dufay, Haydn and others. The program is crowned by the beautiful “Gloria” of John Rutter, accompanied by a brass choir, timpani and organ. The concert will be a musical delight throughout the ages!

~ Kellogg Community College offers a wide variety of performance opportunities in a number of different ensembles. The groups are large enough to provide the resources for excellent performing opportunities, yet small enough so that everyone receives the individual attention necessary for maximum growth. The Kellogg Singers, Branch County Community Chorus, Concentus Vocal Ensemble, and the Kellogg Community College Opera Workshop Ensemble are all part of the college’s curriculum. Other performance opportunities include the KCC Choral Union as well as studio classes and recitals that allow performances each week throughout the semester.

The choirs of Kellogg Community College, under the artistic direction of Dr. Gerald Blanchard has performed throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts. The KCC Choral Union has opened at Miller Auditorium for the Grammy Award winning ensembles Take 6 and Sweet Honey in the Rock. The choir has collaborated with such organizations as the Kalamazoo Festival of Sacred Music, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Monroe Symphony and Community Chorale, Hayden Festival Chamber Orchestra and Chorus, The Battle Creek Community Chorus, the Chancel Choirs of First Presbyterian Church of Lansing and Holt, among others. Most recently, the KCC Choral Union had its European debut, presenting concerts throughout Ireland, where performances took place at some of the country’s most prestigious and beautiful venues including the Cork Cathedral and Saint’ Ann’s in Dublin City. Summer 2014, the KCC Choral Union will return to Europe, with scheduled appearances throughout Rome and the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
